Polimapper has reviewed the notice of poll and statement of nominated persons form for every council. Here are the key findings:
- Reform is standing in 609 of the 631 seats in England, Scotland and Wales (excluding the Speakers seat). That is 96%.
- Of the 20 seats in England where there isn’t a Reform candidate, 9 are currently Conservative held seats (Cheltenham, Earley and Woodley, East Grinstead and Uckfield, Epping Forest, Hexham, Maidenhead, Mid Dorset and North Poole, Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland, and West Dorset).
- Surprisingly Reform UK does not appear to have a candidate against Ed Miliband in Doncaster North, despite the Brexit Party polling one of its best performances at 20%, here in 2019.
- Labour have nominated candidates in every seat in England and Wales; as do the Conservatives barring Rotherham where there was a last minute withdrawal.
- The Liberal Democrats appear to have failed to find a candidate in Manchester Rusholme.
- The Greens are contesting almost every seat in England, including the Speaker’s seat of Chorley. The only seat where they do not appear to be fielding a candidate is Heywood and Middleton. This is the first time the Greens have ever achieved national coverage of this nature.
- The Scottish Greens are standing in 44 of the 57 seats in Scotland. Alba is contesting 19 seats.
- In Northern Ireland, the Alliance Party and the SDLP are contesting all of Northern Ireland’s 18 seats, the UUP is contesting 17 seats, the DUP is contesting 16 seats, Sinn Fein 14 seats, the Greens 11 seats, and the Conservative Party 5 seats.
